Family and Parenting
The Tough and Fun Job of Parenting
Families are important units of a society, because a society is mainly composed of a family.
A family is what starts the cycle of life and humanity. A typical family is composed of a father, a mother and children.
For some it can be extended. And what we mean by that is that it can also be composed of a grandmother, grandfather, aunties or uncles or for some, cousins too.
Family and Parenting
This happens for some families because of financial instability, that’s why they’re forced to live all together in one house. In a set-up like this, most of the time problems and personal conflicts are most likely to build-up, because there is less privacy.
This kind of set-up usually happens in some cultures only, where they find this to be normal. But the truth is, this kind of set-up is not advisable because it tends to stir-up problems and conflicts between the family members.
In situations wherein the family members don’t want their elderly (parents/grandparents) to be sent to a nursing home which is the time where they let their elderly live with them, for them to be able to take care of them personally.
Or in situations where in a nephew or a niece became orphaned, a relative that has a family may take the orphan and let it live with them.
But a normal family set-up is composed of the parents and their children only. When the children reach the right age, some move-out to have their own space and some still stay in their parents’ house.
But when they get married they will also move-out and start a family of their own.
Staying too long in the family house or at your parents’ house can also create certain problems.
Problems or issues like personal space, privacy and the parents are mingling or snooping too much in their child’s personal lives which can’t be healthy for both parties. Speaking of snooping parents, here comes the subject that no one can really answer correctly maybe except for real parents, which is parenting.
Parenting is a very vast subject
There are a lot of books written about it. There are how-to books for parenting, on how to raise your children, discipline them and the likes.
Sometimes, it’s so easy for us people who are not yet parents to judge or to criticize parents. But parenting is one of the hardest jobs in the planet.
No matter how methodical a parent raise his or her child you can’t avoid or you can’t predict what will be the child’s outcome when it grows up.
There are children who are raised in a very good way, but you can’t assure that in the future if he or she will go astray from the good path or not.
There are also instances where in a child is raised in a very disciplined environment, but that doesn’t assure the child that in the future, that he or she will always be disciplined and behaved all through out.
A parent can only hope and pray for his or her child’s future that when he grows up and reach the right age to retain the lessons that were instilled in him by his parents while he was growing up.
No matter will be the end result, the parents are most of the time are blamed for the outcome of their children. Which we think, is not fair.
Because raising children is one of the toughest jobs which is parenting also. That’s why we have to be careful next time, to judge the parenting skills of a parent, because you’ll never know unless you’ve been there.
And from there you’ll be able to pick-up some tips and pointers on how to raise your own and how to deal with similar problems in the future.
Here at SSI, we’ll post new family and parenting stories twice a month, to share with all of you the hardships, joy and rewards of parenting and family life.
